| Q1- Why would I want
to use this service?
A- Converting an 2D regular photo into 3D lends a startling realism to the image. It becomes far more
representative of 'the way we see the world'. Details emerge that are often
unnoticed in a regular print. You will have a unique enhancement of your
favorite photographic, computer generated and art pieces for any purpose you
wish.
Q2- What type of picture is suitable to make into a 3D lenticular
print?
A- Almost any normal
photograph or picture including paintings, cartoons and computer images can be
made into 3D. Highly abstract, blurry or extremely detailed pictures may be
unsuitable or not turn out to our highest standards. We do not knowingly convert a copyrighted picture into 3D. The onus is on the customer to supply us with copyright cleared pictures.
Q3- What is involved in turning a 2D regular photo into 3D?
A- Our skilled artists enter
the 2D photo into a computer and mask out the elements of the picture and put
in horizontal displacement which creates multiple intermediate images. This gives the
3D effect. This is very exacting and time consuming work done by
experienced technicians. Note that the width of the 2D regular photo is reduced by 12% to make it into 3D, so don't have any key subjects near the side edges of your original 2D picture.
Q4- Can I get lenticular reprints of my image?
A- Yes! The 2D to 3D
conversion artwork only has to be done once. After that, we can provide
reprints of your image without further artwork fees. (For the Consumer Conversions, you must purchase the negatives to get easy reprints) See our price list.
Q5- How do I arrange to have this done?
A- You must submit a good
quality copy of the picture as a digital file. Your
picture should have as few flaws as possible. See Tutorial Do not send us any original
material, unless with special arrangement, as we are not responsible for its safe return. Call us at (814) 209-0059 and we will arrange for you to send us the file via email to tech@snap3d.com, along with your credit card payment information, name and mailing address. The finished 3D picture will be sent back to
you one month after we receive the digital photo and payment.
Q6- Can I get my 3D picture in other forms than lenticular?
A- Yes! We can also convert
your photo submission into an anaglyph (red/blue) 3D print and digital file on
CD-Rom. You will need 3D glasses to view it, which we also supply. See our
price list. You can reproduce your anaglyph print using an inkjet printer or
color copier!
Q7- What do I get for my money?
A- You will receive a
finished 3D lenticular print converted from your digital file. The commercial
conversion price is a one time fee and we will keep your conversion on file. The consumer conversion customer must choose to purchase the negatives or the CD if they wish to have reprints easily made. Without the negatives or CD, you would have to pay the full conversion price again.
See our price list for extras such as additional lenticular prints, purchasing the negatives, getting a CD, adding your own custom text and black mat framing services.
Q8- What if I want more than one picture converted into 3D?
A- We have a 10 picture volume special rate. See price list. For other volumes and or sizes, contact us for a quote.
Q9- What is the difference between a reflective and transparency 3D print?
A- A reflective print has an opague back and is viewed with light hitting the front of the picture. This is typical of 90% of all pictures that we see. A transparency print has a clear back and is viewed with light coming from behind the picture. A transparency print is suitable placed on a window sill or mounted in a light box.
The transparency costs a little more to make than the reflective. We provide you a choice of either type of print from the same negative.
